About FoodRescue.net

I started FoodRescue.net in November of 2007, and to date the over 1,500 volunteers from FoodRescue.net have been responsible for rescuing approximately 3 million dollars of retail food in Indianapolis and around the country and delivering it to foodbanks across the country.  My name is John Williamson, and the blog is dedicated to attracting and assisting others to replicate a very small and simple act of service very infrequently, in order to demonstrate and sometimes introduce people to the loving and giving nature of God.  He reveals Himself powerfully to those in need, and to those who deliver the nourishment.  If  you are seeking an encounter with God instead of a discussion about theology, this opportunity serving once a month for 90 minutes will supply what you seek.  I guarantee it.

  1. My experience with Panera Food Deliveries to Third Phase:

I was glad to have been asked to help in the delivery of food to Third Phase and that Panera was kind enough to offer such help to our community. Being a child of divorce I know the importance that these types of shelters provide! To find out we have a Christian organization doing this type of outreach is simply outstanding and what a way to have a positive outreach for Christ!

Having spent over ten years of food service experience I was aware of how much food can get wasted at the close of a shift. After all we live in America “the land of milk and honey”. I was surprised by the volume of just bread items we were able to provide to Third Phase for their food pantry. Who has never thought about the idea if we could take the excess that we produce in our country on any given day to give to those in need?

Those during the closing shift at Panera the workers were more than happy to give and very helpful in packing the goods for transport. It was as if they were happy to not have to throw all the bread away! Those at Third Phase were blessed to get such a bounty of bread and eager to help me unload. This took less than an hour half of time and very easy to deliver. The biggest blessing came to me though knowing that the not only the breaking of bread together, but the “sharing of bread” can make such a difference!

  2. Thanks Mike,

The “sharing of the bread together” is what it is all about.

  3. I just heard about a Food Rescue in my community. I’ve been looking for cause to support that I could offer my business, technology and marketing experience to.

I’ve volunteered to put together a cookbook to raise funds for the project. I’ve also asked to manage their IT and website to help them get started.

    It’s a great cause.
